Who we are
The Thunder Rods is the car club Audrey's Fitting's dad, Merwin Appell, brothers Fred
and Mike Appell, and her late husband Richard started in the 1950's.
We are a family oriented club that participates in shows, cruises,
charity events, and more! New members always welcome! Are you stuck in the fifties and sixites like we are? The music and
the dress, days of going to sock hops, drive-in movies, and cruising in your classic car to Guida's on Friday nights.
Do you like having fun at shows, picnics, and other events? Do you like to laugh and have fun with a group of people
that all get along? Then you would like our club! We are also a nostalgia club. Many of us are also old Drag Racers.
We do have periodic meetings, pot luck dinners as well as Cruise Nights and other events. They say "You can't go back". Well, we never left!
Our Mission Statement
The Thunder Rods of Connecticut
is an antique car club designed to promote the sport of street rodding and the fellowship among its members. The association
sets out to advance the safety, preservation, and enjoyment of antique and modified automobiles through organizing and
promoting various shows and cruises.
